HOT SPOT #2 FedEx Forum

In case you didn't know I am a diehard sports fan! and I ride-or-die with the Boston Celtics.  I've been a fan since Ray Allen aka "Jesus Shuttleswort" joined and will be a fan of any team that "Ray Ray" is on.  However, we're not talking about the Celtics we're talking about the Memphis Grizzlies.  I'm always a fan of the home team no matter the sport and in this case it's the Grizzlies.  Let's go Grizz Nation!!!

Hot Spot #2 take us to the FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis just a block away from the historic Beale Street Entertainment District. The FedEx Forum, which is the Grizzlies homecourt, offers a fan friendly with hundreds of great amenities and is widely considered one of the top sports arenas in the country.  On this night the Grizzlies would take on the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers who own an awful 8-43 record.

The "Cavs" came into the game losers of 22 straight games which is just one loss shy of a tying an NBA record for most consecutive losses.  The Grizzlies were simply hoping to move three games over .500 for the first time since December.  On this night the Grizzlies were tied for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with the Porland Trailblazers.

The main man for the Grizz is none other than Z-Bo aka Zack Randolph who is currently in the running for a spot on the Western Conference All-Star reserves which will be chosen by the coaches.  As we all know ZBo is a walking 20 and 10.  ZBo's main competition at power forward are two media darling in Clipper rookie star Blake Griffin and the people's choice Kevin Love.  Though Love has been putting up mind boggling number including a 30 and 30 in a game this season,  his team's record is terrible and ZBo just destroyed him two nights ago with a 27pt 14 reb effort compared to Love's measley 10pts and 10 boards.   ZBo nearly broke his jaw when he deliver an elbow while attempting one of his patented running jump hooks.  They don't call him ZBo for nothing.

Back to the action, the game started off exciting as Rudy Gay showed off with vicous one-handed dunk off an assist from Mike Conley.  But after that things started to go down hill for these young Grizzlies.  Fans seemed to be in a come as the watched the Cavs build a 10 point lead at the half.  However, this is nothing new as the Grizz have been notorious this season for playing to their level of competition.  Otherwise how do you explain a season in which the defeat the Fakers twice including a pounding in L.A, the Miami Heat, OKC Thunder yet lose to the New Jersey Nets and Sacramento Queens( did I mean Kings) of the world.

To sum up the first half  Mike Conley couldn't buy a bucket, Mark Gasol was on the bench most of the half with 3 early fouls, and Tony Allen, who is normally effective off the bench had 0 points and no steals.  Now when you sit and analyze the fact that Clevland has lost 22 of their last 23 games,  this was ridiculous!!! J.J. Hickson was killing us all night and finished with 31 points.  The second half was a much different story as  the Grizz mounted a furious comeback led by Z-Bo and Rudy Gay and an unlikely hero Sam Young.  Young who has benefited from the suspension of O.J Mayo was one of four Grizz to finish in double figures with 19 points.

ZBo led the Grizzlies 29 points and 13 rebounds while Rudy Gay finished with 26 and 11 rebounds.
Overall the Grizzlies pulled out a must-win game against the lowly through Cavs 1112-105 who have now tied the NBA record for most consecutive losses in a season.  A nice crowd showed up for tonight's game and were treated to another Grizz victory as they improved to 27-24 on the season.  Check out the link below for more details on the game.
